In 1823, local landowner Thomas Kemp conceived the idea of a magnificent new and fashionable estate east of Brighton that was to bear his name. Things did not go as well as he had hoped! Come and listen to a talk which tells the story of this fascinating man and his times, and his key role in the development of Brighton in the Georgian years.

This talk will be given by Brian Ogilvie, a man of Hove but currently exiled in Brighton. He was worked in the field of taxation for 40+ yrs. as adviser, lecturer and examiner. His interests include art, history, architecture, churches and following the ups and downs of Brighton and Hove Albion. He also owns a small tortoise called Sid……and he once met the most famous man in the world - in Kemp Town!
