Whilst we rightly pay attention to the architecture of the city, the spaces between buildings can be neglected, even though they are where we spend so much of our time—the spaces we all share.
In 2007 the renowned Danish planning firm Gehl Architects produced a report, Public Space, Public Life, commissioned by the city council to propose improvements to the quality of public open space in Brighton & Hove. What have we learned in almost two decades and can we develop a vision for a coherent, lively and attractive cityscape?
A panel will introduce and discuss the issues involved. You can download the Gehl Architects report from the Brighton & Hove City Council website
