Regency Society John Small Lecture by Kelvin MacDonald
All are invited to this free event. No need to book.
From Plato to Le Corbusier and from Thomas More to Walt Disney people have described their ideal city and from Robert Owen to Tomáš Baťa people have tried to build it. This lecture will examine the history of utopian thinking and reflect on how it may, and may not, have influenced the way we plan our cities today.
Kelvin MacDonald is Senior Fellow at the Department of Land Economy, Cambridge and specialist adviser on planning to select committees in the House of Commons and the House of Lords. He is a fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences and of the Royal Town Planning Institute.
Annual General Meeting
The lecture will follow the Annual General Meeting of the Regency Society. All are welcome to attend but only members will be entitled to vote for new trustees and on other matters. (The Hove Club bar will be open.)
